PBB Season 2 at the Big Dome: Tomorrow is crunch time!
By WALDEN SADIRI

Like in the first season or even in its spin-offs or so-called special editions, the "Pinoy Big Brother" lives up to its name as the most unpredictable reality TV show. In real life however, these unpredictable occurrences in the show managed to create negative reactions from the televiewers who have given their most passionate feedbacks.

Some-even opined that the show may be rigged from the very start just because the housemates they dislike have remained in Kuya’s house. But Lauren Dyogi, the franchise’s Executive Producer has a simple explanation – they have to vote to save the ones they like to stay!

He stressed that it was impossible to rig the show especially that Endemol, the owner of Big Brother worldwide won’t allow it. Everything that has happened in "PBB Season 2" followed strict procedures according to him. And he suggested that people should get more involved in choosing who they would like to win.

"Management would tell me if something not right is happening in the program. Ever since, we intend to keep this program for a long time and we don’t want to tarnish its integrity as well as the network because this will be a reflection of the people’s confidence on ABS-CBN," he said.

A clear example was the time nationwide televiewers had to choose between Nel and Wendy. Despite alleged reports that there were growing "Wendy-haters," it didn’t translate to votes enough to save Nel. In fact Nel even got the lowest vote percentage ( 3.5%) ever received by a housemate in the "Pinoy Big Brother" history.

"I was also surprised that Nel was evicted. From day one I thought of him as a strong contender. I even thought that he could win," shared Mr. Dyogi. "I guess Nel’s supporters’ became complacent."

He added, "I have to say thank you for the hate e-mails for Wendy because it added talk. I have to admit that Big Brother thrives on talk and controversy worldwide. We were advised by Endemol that we needed the program to be talked about. If it is not talked about then people are not watching it, people are not interested. The hate mails are a form of involvement of the public with the program."

The director said he should be detached from the hate mails against Wendy because he, along with the whole production, especially the hosts, must always remain objective. He said that if he defends her, he would be accused of favoring her.

"Damn if you do, damn if you don’t...hawak ko po lahat ng housemates. They are all with ABS-CBN. That’s a false accusation," he said. "Hindi dahil maraming naiinis kaya natatanggal ang isang housemate. We have a process and the one who gets the lowest votes is evicted. And we don’t touch the votes. The production even finds out about the number of votes a minute before Toni announces it. "

In safeguarding the "Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 Big Night" this coming Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum, Lauren said that aside from the ABS-CBN Interactive, they would be hiring the services of a third party auditing firm for that night to look at the records dating to Robert’s eviction. The said firm would verify the number of votes that would come in.

"We still feel that voting is the democratic way of choosing the Big Winner and wala po kaming mahihita dyan because lahat ng housemates na ipinasok namin dyan is to provide you with a good show...we feel that people reacting that way show that we have done our job well and we have been giving people a nice cathartic way of venting their angers, so thank you." he smiled.

Still, I hope for the best--for me it's a Deal.
