Fresh/Hot/Fast: Halalan Na, Bayan! (Philippines, The Elections Are Here!)

It's the Philippine national elections this time of the year--one moment you will yourself shaking hands with an administration candidate amidst a town fiesta (fiestas are here 365 days in the Philippines) and another moment you will see yourself eating with an opposition candidate at a birthday party. The controversy that was the 2004 Philippine national elections has to be stopped this time, and ABS-CBN has a way to monitor the ins and outs of the elections as they culminate on Election Day-14 May 2007-as the network's contribution to free, clean and honest elections. It invites the entire Philippine population who will vote to text/e-mail the reports and news events to ABS-CBN (anything and everything election-related, good or bad) via its national election public service plug "BOTO MO, I-PATROL MO!" as the countdown continues for Halalan 2007, ABS-CBN's national election day broadcast. If you know of candidates or officials with campaign promises not kept and problems with no solutions until now, or cases of election fraud/irregularity, or an elected official who have done good jobs to the people, or any good election-related news event, let ABS-CBN know ASAP.

Available since January 15 until even after the Election Day, the election plug has the following mechanics:

1) Text your report in this format
IREPORT<space><YOUR NAME><space><YOUR ADDRESS><space><YOUR CONTACT NUMBER><space><YOUR REPORT> to 2366 (available to all wireless phone networks in the Philippines).

2) For your election-related report in MMS, photos or videos (3G or not), send also to 2366 (for cellphone) or to the following e-mail address: mms@abs-cbn.com (for non-cellphone).

Better text/e-mail any election-related event in your area ASAP!

For ABS-CBN's brilliant way of inviting the public to participate in its marathon National Election Day Coverage, I'll say Deal.
