In 1996 ABS-CBN launched the 1st (and now longest running) local newscast in Socsksargen (South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Saranggani and General Santos City/Gensan). Now Gensan TV Patrol has been the lead in covering the news across the Southern Cotabato region. Examples of stories covered by the newscast were the rise of Gensan and Southern Cotabato, the communities of Gensan natives who became international Filipino stars like Manny Pacquiao, the flooding at South Cotabato's volcano slopes, and political landscape of Southern Cotabato. Among the anchors-reporters who covered them were Marivic Abrasada, Maja Moralde, former national TV Patroller Aladin Bacolodan and current ABS-CBN Manila reporter Dexter Ganibe.
Now leading the newscast is Jay Dayupay backed up by Francis Canlas, Chat Ansagay, Kathy Kasayan, Annie Salon Gacayan, Myrvic Kapunan and Beverly Anne Santos (also a granddaughter of General Paulino Santos, a top military hero, whom Gensan was actually named after being called Dadiangas).
Gensan TV Patrol airs 5:15pm Mon-Fri on ABS-CBN TV-3 Gensan, TV-24 Koronadal and all ABS-CBN stations in Southern Cotabato region.
