Halalan and Salubong Post Shutdown`

Denied a broadcast franchise by the National Telecommunications Commission and the Congress of the Philippines, ABS-CBN as a media company shouldered on, producing special coverage broadcasts that can still give legit broadcasters a run of their finances and audiences. Case in point: Halalan 2022 and the New Year Salubong midnight broadcasts after the unjust 2020 broadcast shutdown.

Besides Kabayan Noli de Castro and the gamut of various news anchors from ANC and Teleradyo Channels and the ones from the original Channel 2, we had the national reporters, regional stringers (former ABS-CBN Regional correspondents) and TFC correspondents in various countries worldwide giving out live updates from actual polling to actual counting on Election Day and in-depth analysis of data and issues from various subject matter experts. Small broadcast infrastructure from affiliate-partner A2Z not withstanding, Halalan 2022 is all good in all aspects. Let us not mention the outcome of the elections, shall we? A better Halalan 2025 coverage is a Deal for me.

Salubong New Year midnight broadcasts have been mainly confined to Teleradyo Channel simulcast on ANC. For me, Salubong 2021 is the best post-shutdown ABS-CBN New Year midnight show to watch, in contrast to less celebration coverage offered by Salubong 2022 and lesser time offered by Salubong 2023 (not to mention the broadcast being relayed by Kapamilya Channel and A2Z). A better Salubong 2024 is a Deal for me.
