It was last 11th of May 2009 that ABS-CBN launched the election watch campaign for the 2010 elections about 365 days to go (meaning that was last year and as of today, it's less than 72 hours to go), ABS-CBN
Last year, on 5-11-2009, ABS-CBN started the 365-day countdown to 5-10-2010 with the launch of Halalan 2010: Ako Ang Simula! Boto Mo I-Patrol Mo!
Since then ABS-CBN had thousands to register as voters for this Monday's elections and as Boto Patrollers for the longest time since the campaign began. The patrollers, now almost nearing to a hundred thousand, had been covering the news election-related or not, including the 2009 Philippine Independence Day, the death and funeral of former President Cory Aquino, the Ampatuan Massacre, till this very moment, barely 72 hours before the nationwide polls open. This gave to the common notion of citizen journalism, as mentioned by ABS-CBN Vice President for News Maria Ressa.
All the Boto Patrollers will be reporting now and more than ever this May 10 as part of the network's Election Day coverage. These will form a vital part of the coverage, which includes the media vote count, exit poll, and a collage of reports from ABS-CBN reporters worldwide with special reports and key interviews, commentaries and analyses. Boto Patrollers will appear in the coverage, along with the members of what is considered the country's best News and Current Affairs Organization--not to mention the Kapamilya stars and personalities who will help run the coverage.
So, to you, Boto Patroller, a million thanks and greetings of appreciation for you, and see you this Monday, 4:00am on ABS-CBN!
